Shootout at Sallisaw McDonalds. Armed suspect is injured

An armed suspect who police had been searching for since he assaulted his sister this morning in Fort Smith was taken down by Sallisaw police. 45 year old Jamie Huskey was shot at the Sallisaw McDonald's location and was was transported to an area hospital. His condition is not known at this time.                                                                                                      

The suspect started a police chase after he hit his sister with a handgun and fired a shot into the wall of her home on Mussett Road shortly after 7 a.m. on Wednesday morning. 

Witnesses said Huskey was armed with a pistol and has threatened “suicide by cop,” police said.

Sallisaw police found Huskey’s vehicle around 1 p.m. Police searched the area and then a shootout happened at a McDonalds in Sallisaw shortly before 2 p.m.

Police said they arrived at the Mussett Road address around 9 a.m. on Wednesday after hearing reports of an armed robbery. After determining a robbery didn’t occur, they started searching for Huskey.

His sister was taken to a local hospital with a cut to the left ear.

Huskey will face charges of felony domestic battery, aggravated assault, and felon in possession of a firearm, said Sgt. Daniel Grubbs. He is also wanted out of Texas, and his bond was revoked on a sexual assault charge.

Several people who were also in the Mussett Road house when the assault took place were later taken in for questioning. The individuals fled the scene after it happened, and officers said they believed some had warrants out for their arrests.
